About us

About us

OSI Orientering is an orienteering sports club, mainly for students in Oslo. We have about 30 active members, both students and non-students. We are open to everyone from beginners to experienced orienteerers. Read more practical information on this site.

Activities

During the season, from the start of April until the end of December, we have weekly physical trainings every Monday. Each Wednesday we cooperate with the club IL Geoform in arranging an orienteering practice race every other week. Once a year in September/October we host the long-distance race «Kjempesprekken» from the KSI cabin in Nordmarka.

Beginners course

Every semester we host a beginners course in orienteering, where you can learn basic orienteering skills such as how to read a map and use a compass. You can read more about the course in the section «Beginners Course«.

  1. Dear Orienteringteam,

I just moved to Oslo for my MA. I’m interested to learn about this sport. Is there a new Beginnercourse?

  2. Hello,

I’m an exchange student who’s thinking about joining this association and attending the beginner’s course next month, and I was wondering: As far as training clothes are concerned, would a guy be just fine coming out in jeans and a t-shirt when he’s starting out? Or is there certain apparel that you need to have for this?

    1. Hi, Rico!

Cool that you would like to join!

Jeans would not be the perfect clothing, you may assume that you will get dirty and may find yourself in many types of terrains (crossing creeks, marshes, dense vegetation), so jeans would not be that comfortable. T-shirt is fine.

So the advice is to have some comfortable clothes and shoes that you could run in. If you would like to see what the people that run competitions use, you could check out this google search to get an idea: https://www.google.no/search?um=1&hl=no&gbv=2&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=orienteringsl%C3%B8pere

      Regards
      Mikael
