Practical information for members of OSI!

General information

To get information about our trainings, rankingraces (rankingløp), prioritized races and other information you should attend our e-mail list and/or Facebook group.

Every monday we have trainings, throughout the season (spring-summer-fall) they will be in the woods, most often at Sognsvann where the meeting place is Sognsvann metro. Lenny Enstrõm is our hired trainer, who has completed trainer courses in orienteering. There will be interval trainings with map, games with map and similar things. You will get orienteering technical training, good condition and meet other members of our club 🙂 Trainings are open for everyone in the club. You will get information about them on e-mail and Facebook, and updated details on the webpage.

Rankingraces (rankingløp/practice races)

Every week from April to December (with exception of in the summer) we are organizing (in cooperation with another club, GeoForm) rankingløp. From April to September they are on Wednesdays, from then and to December they are on Saturdays (because the suns sets early, and it gets dark). This is informal races with three distances (2 km, 4 km and 6 km). These races are in and close to Oslo, and it is always public transportation available. For members of OSI Orienteering these races has a fee of 30 kroner (others: 70 kroner).

Where can I find races in and around Oslo?

If you wish to run a orinteering race and wonder where you can find these, you can go to Eventor. Here you can easily search for races in and outside of Oslo. As a student you will get the race fee refunded for all types of races located in Norway.

Be aware that we only cover the original fee, that mean that we do not reimburse enter late fee or rental of compass / e-punch. And if you do not attend the race you will also have to pay yourself (it is OK to not finish a race, as long as you started you will be refunded). Also notice that rankingløp is not refunded, even for students (and races where the cost is 30 NOK or less) .

The club has picked out some races which we have as “prioritized races”, that mean that we think this is good races and hope that as many as possible from the club join these. We will try to arrange common departure from Oslo and overnight stay if that is desirable / necessary.
